Email Hosting & Monitoring
Bitworks email hosting and monitoring include the SPF, DKIM and other security management along with DMARC compliance and monitoring.
SPF- Sender Policy Framework hardens DNS servers and restricts who can send emails from the domains, while also preventing domain spoofing. Three major elements are considered: Policy framework, Authentication method, and specialized headers in the email itself.
DKIM- DomainKeys Identified Mail ensures that the content of your emails remains trusted and hasn’t been tampered with or compromised. DKIM uses two encryption keys: 1 public and 1 private. The private key is housed in a secure location that is only accessed by the domain owner and is used to encrypt the signature. The receiver of the message gains the public DKIM key which is stored in the public facing DNS record. Once it is determined the records match the mail can only be sent by the person with access to the private key.
DMARC – Domain-based Message Authentication: Reporting & Conformance must rely on either SPF or DKIM to provide the authentication and builds on those technologies by providing directions to the receiver on what to do if a message from your domain is not properly authenticated. Also requiring a specific DNS record to be entered for the FROM:address which can include many values, but require these two: (v)tells receiving server to check DMARC, and (p) gives instructions on what to do if an authentication fails.
